Ep50: 106 Fish

Fishing Team starts off season 3 after a long hiatus of recording with an ambitious scheme to catch a hundred fish in a day! We’ll gloss over whether that was going to be a hundred fish each, or a hundred fish total, but 106 fish is pretty much a success either way. This is also the first socially distanced quarantine LCPC episode. Places visited, Mabel Davis Park, Blunn Creek, and Shoal Creek. Fish caught include lots of sunfish, puppy bass, cichlids, and even a few Mexican tetra. Yes, there’s definitely some low balling involved here to pump up the numbers!

Ep48: Port Aransas Bank Fishing

This special all That Wasn’t That Bad episode follows the inshore fishing trip Jamey and Matthew took to Port Aransas in December 2019. They describe catching fish off the pier in Bayside, the Caldwell Pier in Port A, and the sheepshead off the Packery Jetty. Also a long review of Texas Seafood by PJ and Apple Stoop. Some of the more unusual catches, Matthew caught a pompano, a harry blenny, and an actual squid. Jamey caught a puffer fish, as well as a Bermuda chub, a fish the Stoops reveal as having a habit of eating dolphin poop!

Our Fishing Team goes to the Colorado River near Austin, hunting the state fish, the Guadalupe bass. Not to spoil anything, but from the pics you can see that they did indeed catch a Guadalupe. As Matthew and Jamey were a bit giddy from a live podcast taping at Armadillocon the night before, there’s more than the usual amount of singing, non-sequiturs, and petty one-upsmanship.
